US Imposes Sanctions on Iranian Oil Network

(MENAFN) The US State Department announced Friday a new round of sanctions targeting individuals, companies, and vessels involved in Iran’s illicit petroleum and petrochemical trade, according to reports.

In its statement, the department said 15 entities, two individuals, and 14 vessels associated with Iran’s so-called “shadow fleet” are being sanctioned:
"These targets have generated revenue that the regime uses to conduct its malign activities,"

Officials criticized Tehran for diverting resources from domestic needs, claiming that instead of investing in the welfare of its population or addressing deteriorating infrastructure, the Iranian government continues to fund destabilizing actions abroad and intensify repression at home.

The State Department warned that Washington will maintain pressure and continue targeting efforts to evade sanctions, aiming to prevent Iran from using oil and petrochemical revenues to support “oppressive behavior, terrorist activities and proxies.”
